Who are the Port Vila Masterbathers

Port Vila Masterbathers is an endearing term for the collection of swimmers of all abilities who meet most weekday mornings, lunchtimes and Saturday mornings at Port Vila’s seafront for a social swim.

It’s not so much a club as a loose collection of like minded individuals. It’s mainly about keeping fit, being social and developing swimming in the country.

Pod size varies, some days just a handful, other days 20 or more.

Start times very. Pods generally depart Nambawan Cafe car park at 6am, 8am and 12pm ish. Ask at Nambawan for more information. (the swimmers map is also displayed on their wall)

In one of the Pacific’s cleanest harbours you may encounter turtles, sea snakes, eels, nudibranchs, stingrays, our iconic dugongs and occasional whales and dolphins along with the plethora of tropical fish & coral in all shapes and sizes. These are just some of the enjoyable aspects of swimming with us.

Several Masterbathers events are held throughout the year with ‘Championships’ over various distances, as well as informal get togethers & BBQs.

To find out more information about the Masterbathers, where we meet and times for regular swims send an email to Masterbathers@SwimVanuatu.com

Swimming Schools in Vanuatu

in 2014 the Vanuatu Aquatics Federation was established to encourage swimming as a sport for ni-Vanuatu. We don’t have a public swimming pool – so all lessons run by the Federation and Nancy Miyake are held on the beaches throughout Efate. We hope through fundraising we can train more teaches and get teaching tools to take swimming and swim safety throughout the country. The children are learning fast but need all the assistance they can get.

If you are interested to know more about the Federation please email Vanuatu Aquatics or visit Vanuatu’s first swimming club’s website, Flying Fish Vanuatu.
